Friday 21st June - Blondie
Blondie emerged from New York’s celebrated new wave scene producing innovative music with their rock/disco, reggae and hip-hop influenced songs. Fronted by pop icon Deborah Harry, their groundbreaking material brought them a stash of hit singles such as ‘Denis’, ‘(I’m Always Touched by Your) Presence Dear’, ‘Picture This’, ‘Dreaming’, ‘Union City Blue’ and ‘Rapture’. Few acts can match their 20 year span of No 1’s from ‘Heart Of Glass’, ‘Sunday Girl’, ‘Atomic’, ‘Call Me’, ‘The Tide Is High’ to ‘Maria’. Their singles success complemented by 40 million+ album sales that include classic recordings like ‘Plastic Letters’, ‘Parallel Lines’ and ‘Eat to The Beat’ has ensured worldwide superstar status for this pioneering band.
Special guest each evening will be The Lightning Seeds performing an acoustic set of their perfect pop songs like ‘Pure’, ‘Lucky You’ and ‘Change’.
Saturday 22nd June - Paloma Faith
The captivating Paloma Faith is the latest act to announce that she will be performing concerts in the seven spectacular woodland locations this summer.
Released in 2009, debut album, ‘Do You Want the Truth, or Something Beautiful?’ introduced Paloma Faith and a glossy ensemble of retro-referencing soul and sassy pop songs. From the brass-blasted stomp of ‘Stone Cold Sober’ to the quirky ‘Upside Down’, and the epic sweep of her biggest chart hit ‘New York’, the record went on to sell over half a million copies. Faith’s 2012 sophomore album, ‘Fall To Grace’, continues to build upon the success of her debut release. A collection of compositions in a new contemporary realm, chart success has already be assured with singles ‘Picking Up the Pieces’, ‘30 Minute Love Affair’, ‘Just Be’ and her enchanting cover of ‘Never Tear Us Apart’.
Sunday 23rd June - Olly Murs
The success Olly Murs has experienced over the past four years is nothing short of phenomenal, with the release of three multi-platinum selling albums:
‘Olly Murs’ (2010), ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ (2011) and last year’s ‘Right Place Right Time’. This album shot to the top of the albums chart immediately on release, giving Olly the biggest week-one sales by a male artist in 2012!
Olly also managed the rare feat of being top of the album and singles chart simultaneously when ‘Troublemaker’ featuring Flo Rida hit the top spot for a second week.
Further singles success with hits like ‘Heart Skips A Beat’, ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’, ‘Busy’, ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ and ‘Oh My Goodness’ have ensured his catchy pop tunes a sustained presence in the charts and on radio station playlists.
Friday 19th July - Jessie J
Jessie is one of the hottest pop stars on the planet right now having hit the No 1 spot in 19 countries world-wide, selling 16 million singles and over 3 million copies of her multi-platinum debut album ‘Who You Are’. In the UK alone, Jessie has sold over 1.5 million albums and secured two No 1 singles with ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Domino’.
Her single ‘Laserlight’ featuring David Guetta became her sixth top ten UK single from her debut album, and with it she achieved the accolade of being the first UK solo artist to have so many top ten hits off one album.
Not content with dominating the top of the music charts, Jessie has experienced success in the literary world with the release of her autobiography ‘Nice to Meet You’ and has become established as a British fashion icon. Her second album is expected to be released later in the year.
Saturday 20th July - Paul Weller
Paul Weller is the first artist to sign up for the Forestry Commission’s 2013 Forest Live concert programme.
Very few performers have enjoyed the kind of success and influence over four decades that Paul Weller has: six era-defining albums with The Jam; five with The Style Council and eleven as a solo artist including his most recent NUMBER ONE release ‘Sonik Kicks’, the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Wake Up The Nation’. The ever-changing Weller continues to garner acclaim from the media, respect from his peers and adulation from his loyal fan base, ensuring the mantle of being one of the greatest singer-songwriters of British popular music.
Having performed previously to capacity crowds in 2004 and 2009, Paul Weller said, “It will be good for me to be back in the woods. I really enjoy the unique atmosphere of these gigs as do the fans.”
Sunday 21st July - Jools Holland
